Málaga is the closest airport.  The flight from the UK takes under 3 hours. You can choose between numerous airlines including BA, EasyJet, Monarch, and Flybe.  Other possible airports to fly into are Granada, Sevilla, Gibraltar and Jerez.  There is one hour time difference between the UK and Spain.

Car hire

Travel insurance & Form E111

In addition to the normal travel insurance it is well worth UK citizens filling in Form E111 from the Post Office, which allows you reciprocal rights to the Spanish equivalent to the NHS. It can make emergency care much easier as you can go to the nearest clinic or hospital, rather than to a private one which may be further away.

Weather

There are definite seasons. Temperatures average 20º C in spring, 28º C in summer, 18º C in autumn and 13º C in winter. Walking, golf, and tennis are possible all year round, but it can get very hot in summer. Most rainfall is expected between December and March.
